The Half Day Preschool Program is a cognitively oriented developmental curriculum for 3-year-olds & Pre-K 4-year-olds in separate classes. This program is offered on consecutive days, enhancing the assimilation of learning concepts & is offered for 10 months, from September to June. In the half-day program we strive to identify each child’s developmental status & provide experiences that permit the child to exercise emerging abilities. The curriculum supports active learning, the direct & immediate experiencing of objects, people & events. Teachers facilitate learning by structuring experiences in active learning, language, representation, classification, seriation, number, spatial relations & time. Listening skills are stressed during each activity. Children learn to define goals & discover problems while trying to attain goals, explore & evaluate alternative solutions to a problem.
